Moving Violations
Police said they stopped motorist Jose Castillo Lopez, 28, of Brookfield on Hattertown Road, near its intersection with Purdy Station Road, about 10:38 am April 21 to investigate.
Police said they charged Lopez with failure to display a front marker plate, misuse of a marker plate, and driving an unregistered vehicle.
Lopez was released on a written promise to appear on May 5 in Danbury Superior Court.
Currituck Crash
Motorist Christine Grabowski, 45, of 14 Turkey Hill Road, who was driving a 2010 Volkswagen Tiguan sport utility vehicle southward on Currituck Road, near Keenan Road, about 9 pm April 21, was struck by a deer that had run onto the street, police report. Grabowski was not injured. Police took no enforcement.
Hanover Road
At about 11:30 am April 24, motorist Collin Gage, 17, of 38 Mt Pleasant Road was driving a 2002 Audi A-4 sedan southward on Hanover Road, just north of its intersection with Schoolhouse Hill Road, when a deer ran out into the path of the auto, resulting in a collision, police said. Gage was not injured. Police took no enforcement.
Warrant
Police report that after she learned that police held a warrant for her arrest, Jessica McDermott, 28, of Naugatuck went to the police station on the morning of April 25 and was charged with four offenses in connection with a January incident.
Police said they charged McDermott with fourth-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit fourth-degree larceny, third-degree forgery, and theft of a credit card.
The charges stem from an incident last January 13 at the Stop & Shop supermarket at Sand Hill Plaza at 228 South Main Street in which McDermott and another person allegedly stole a woman shopperâs purse from a shopping cart, and then also cashed a forged check, police said. Information on that other person was not available from police.
Police said they released McDermott on a written promise to appear on May 6 in Danbury Superior Court.
Sandy Hook Accident
A two-vehicle accident occurred on Berkshire Road near the Misty Vale Deli at about 3:20 pm April 25.
Police said that motorist Ian Mcevoy, 17, of 23 Fawnwood Road, who was driving a 2004 Volvo S-60 sedan eastward on Berkshire Road, stopped in traffic and was waiting to make a left turn into the deliâs parking lot.
Eastbound motorist Katherine Peters, 16, of 26 Charter Ridge Drive, who was driving a 2001 Ford Escape SUV, then struck the rear end of the Volvo, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Peters an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
NHS Drugs
Police report that Newtown High School officials received information on the morning of April 27 that a student there might be in possession of illegal drugs, so they sought the assistance of the police departmentâs school resource officer to deal with the situation.
The police officer investigated, resulting in the student being charged with illegal possession of prescription drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, and illegal possession of tobacco by a minor.
Because the person arrested is under age 18, their identity is shielded from disclosure by state law. Police said the student was released on a written promise to appear on May 9 in Danbury Juvenile Court.
Vandalism
Police report that sometime during the Easter holiday weekend, someone vandalized a Parks and Recreation Department trailer which was parked near the departmentâs building at Treadwell Park at 49 Philo Curtis Road. The vandal or vandals placed graffiti on two sides of the trailer, police said. Police ask anyone with information on the incident to contact them at 203-426-5841.
Fairfield Hills
A one-car accident occurred at Fairfield Hills about 10:49 am April 26.
Police said that motorist Lynn Kovack, 44, of 6 Appleblossom Lane was driving a 2001 Nissan Sentra sedan which went off the road and then struck a concrete step near the intersection of Keating Farms Avenue and DG Beers Boulevard.
Kovack was transported to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, police said. Hook & Ladder firefighters responded to the incident. The accident is under investigation, police said.
