NHS Drugs

Police report that Newtown High School officials received information on the morning of April 27 that a student there might be in possession of illegal drugs, so they sought the assistance of the police department’s school resource officer to deal with the situation.

The police officer investigated, resulting in the student being charged with illegal possession of prescription drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, and illegal possession of tobacco by a minor.

Because the person arrested is under age 18, their identity is shielded from disclosure by state law. Police said the student was released on a written promise to appear on May 9 in Danbury Juvenile Court.

Vandalism

Police report that sometime during the Easter holiday weekend, someone vandalized a Parks and Recreation Department trailer which was parked near the department’s building at Treadwell Park at 49 Philo Curtis Road. The vandal or vandals placed graffiti on two sides of the trailer, police said. Police ask anyone with information on the incident to contact them at 203-426-5841.
