NHS Rooster Art To Go On View

Newtown High School students in Painting I were asked to research art history movements and create a work of art incorporating Newtown’s favorite icon: The rooster. Now, according to NHS art teacher Diane Dutchick, the works are scheduled to be put on display from May 2 to May 20 at the Newtown Municipal Center, located on the Fairfield Hills campus.

Each work of art, Ms Dutchick says, was inspired by an artist or historic art movement. From Roy Lichenstein to Salvador Dali, students created work based on their research through art history.

The “Roosters” exhibition will be on display from May 2 to 20. There will be no reception for the show.

Students involved in the exhibit are Abby Blakeman, Anna Guarango, Ashley Weston, Billy Begg, David Swigart, Erin Glaberson, Grace Clark, Hannah Eckhardt, Jen Morrissey, Kurt Liniger, Kyra Mideleer, Lauren Pettinelli, Lillian Rodriguez, Linda He, Madilyn Middlebrook, Nancy Michaud, Paige Carnes, Paulina Frutos, Rachel Rhode, Sarah Pettinelli, and Victoria Braga.
