NMS Set To Celebrate Art
Newtown Middle School is ready for its annual NMS Celebration of the Arts, scheduled for Tuesday, May 3, from 6 to 8 pm.
Every year the schoolâs walls are lined with art, student musicians and singers take to the stage in the schoolâs auditorium, and student projects are put on display for family members and community members who attend the event.
The schoolâs Interact Club, overseen by advisor Bruce Moulthrop, is also preparing for its largest fundraiser of the school year. The club will be hosting a bake sale during the Celebration of the Arts in association with Share Our Strengthâs Great American Bake Sale, presented by Domino Sugar, C&H Sugar, and Duncan Hines. The Great American Bake Sale is a national fundraising effort that encourages Americans to host bake sales to help end childhood hunger, according to Mr Moulthroup. The fundraiserâs purpose is to create public awareness about childhood hunger in America and its devastating effect on a childâs development and to raise funds to support Share Our Strength No Kid Hungry.
Mr Moulthrop said this yearâs baked items will include blueberry/lemon scones, buttermilk/currant scones, chocolate chip muffins, and oatmeal blondie squares. The groupâs bake sale is set to be located near the B-Wing auditorium.
