Working To Make A Difference
Working To Make A Difference
To the Editor:
Newtown Youth & Family Servicesâ 12th Annual Independent Living Day was a great success. More than 35 volunteers turned out on April 23 to help 40 Newtown residents stay safe and healthy in their own homes.
Newtown seniors really appreciated the efforts. One said, âEveryone was so willing to help me and they did such a great job! Itâs nice to have them here spending time with us and being so friendly.â
Even the volunteers appreciated us making it possible for them to help out. One of the volunteers said, âThanks for organizing this event. We had fun and it felt good to help out (even in the rain). We cleaned windows at three units and each person was very appreciative of the help.â
Thanks to the many local organizations, groups and media for spreading the word about Independent Living Day. Special thanks to Dunkin Donuts and Subway for their continuing and much appreciated support. All of the merchants fueled our volunteers for work that had to be completed on that rainy April day.
Thank you to all the youth, families and friends who came, worked hard and made a difference. Letâs do it again next year!
Sincerely,
