HOUND AND PUPPY SHOWS

MAY 6 – The Penn-Marydale Hound Show will be held at Golden’s Bridge Kennels on Saturday, May 6. For prize list information, call Donald Philhower at 1-914-669-5700.

May 20 – The Adjacent Hunts Puppy Show will be held Saturday, May 20, at 10 am, at the Millbrook Hunt Kennels. Mason J. Lampton, Jt. MFH, will be the judge. Contact Mrs W.W. Stahl Jr. at 1-914-677-8006 for further information.

HORSE SHOWS

MAY 21 – The 19th annual Pegasus Horse Show will be held on Sunday, May 21, from 9 am to 1 pm, at Coker Farm on Stone Hill Road, Route 137, in Bedford, New York. Pegasus Therapeutic Riding, Inc., and co-chairs Daniella Economou and Marja-Liisa Smith invite you to celebrate the extraordinary achievement of their students by sponsoring a ribbon. MAY 21 - Horses On Parade will be held on Sunday, May 21, at the Bethany Airport Grounds on Route 63 in Bethany. A mix of stallions, horses of different breeds (some quite rare) and demonstrations of equestrian expertise in dressage, driving, Western and jumping will be featured. The events will start at 1 pm and last approximately two hours. Entry fee is $5 per person, or $15 per car. All proceeds benefit scholarships for students in the Equine Management program at TPU. MAY 21 - The 2000 4-H Spring Benefit Horse Show will be held Sunday, May 21, at the Cooperative Extension System grounds on Route 6 (Stony Hill Road) in Bethel. The popular Open Schooling show will feature divisions in English Equitation, Hunt Seat, Western, and Trail. New divisions on the outside course this year will include Beginner Jumper, Children’s Hunter, and Children’s Equitation. Most classes are pinned through sixth place with the first-place winner also receiving a trophy. Divisions will all be awarded champion and reserve ribbons during the day. Proof of a current rabies vaccination (within one year) will be checked at the gate for each animal. Refreshments will be available on the ground and 4Hers will be offering horse-side service for food and drink. Bit Of Tack will be offering horse products for sale. JUNE 10 – The Falls Village Benefit Horse Show will be held Saturday, June 10, in Falls Village. The show, which will be judged by Mr Carl Dena, will offer Pleasure, Evergreen Hunter, Low Hunter, Children’s Hunter, Versatile Horse & Rider, Open Equitation, Local Hunter, and Open Hunter divisions. There will also be a lead line class at 12 noon. A High Point rider cooler and several Championship Coolers will be award, as well as a $300 Trainers Award. HUNTER PACES

 

JUNE 17: The Newtown Bridle Lands Association, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving open space, will be holding a “Spring Into Summer” hunter pace.  The pace is scheduled for Saturday, June 17, 2000 rain or shine.  The conditioning course will take place on the beautiful grounds of The 2nd Company Governor’s Horse Guard in Newtown. All fences will have go-arounds. Breakfast and lunch will be available by vendor and water will be available for the horses.  Pre-register by June 7, with a copy of Rabies and Coggins certificates.  Come out and enjoy the beautiful facility, pleasant ride through Newtown’s spectacular fields and don’t forget your approved safety helmet and footwear.  For more information please call Bev MacMillan at (203) 270-0202.

 

PET ADOPTIONS

 

MAY 6-7: MEOW, Inc., a non-profit, non-destroy feline welfare organization based in Litchfield will hold an Adoption Open House on Saturday and Sunday, May 6 and 7, at 10 Nasser Road in Litchfield. The Open House will run from 1 to 4 pm on Saturday and 1 to 3 pm on Sunday. All cats and kittens have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated against ravies and distemper, and have tested negative for feline leukemia. Call 1-860-567-3277 for further information.
