Painting Critiques By Anda Styler

The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown will have a critique of members’ paintings by Anda Styler, one of their most popular demonstrators, on Wednesday, May 14, at 7:30 pm. The program is open to the public and will be in the lower meeting room of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at the flagpole).

For her program, instead of traditional verbal critiques Ms Styler will be using acetate sheets to overlay members’ paintings and actually show the changes she believes would strengthen the composition and color of their work. The critique is done anonymously so that the artist need not feel that he or she will be put in the spotlight.

Ms Styler received a bachelor of arts degree from Parsons in New York City. She has won numerous awards for her work. Just recently she won second place in the Northlight Cover Competition for their catalogue of books. The Art Collector magazine featured Ms Styler’s work in the June 2007 issue with a double page spread.
