‘Pride And Prejudice’ At PHS

SOUTHBURY — Under the guidance of Paul E. Doniger of Newtown, artistic director, The Pomperaug Theatre Company (from Pomperaug High School) will  present as its final production for the 2007-08 season Jon Jory’s adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic, Pride and Prejudice. This play presets a special opportunity not only for fans of Jane Austen, but for students who study her writings. The company’s intent is to draw an audience from throughout the greater Waterbury and Danbury areas, as well as from districts further away.

The play will be staged on the high school’s main stage in the auditorium on Friday and Saturday, May 2-3, at 7:30 pm, and on Sunday, May 4, at 2:30 pm.

The production is being directed by Pomperaug High School senior Nick Moreno under the guidance of Mr Doniger, the school’s drama teacher who is also serving as speech director. This is the first time a major PTC production is being directed by a student.

The show, which has a cast of 36 students, will be presented with one intermission of approximately 15 minutes.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens. For further information, call the Black Box box office at 262-3247 or the school’s main office, 262-3200. Pomperaug High School is at 12 Judd Road, off Route 188 near Exit 16.
