A History Of Womenâs Fashion
WATERBURY â The Mattatuck Museum Arts and History Center is planning a Seventh Avenue style fashion show, âFrom Fig Leaf to Fashion Avenue,â with WTNH TVâs Jocelyn Mimenta, on Thursday, May 10, from 5:30 to 9:30 pm.
The event is planned as an evening of fashion, fun, entertainment and history. The program will begin with a historical retrospective of womenâs clothing over the last 100 years. Samples from the Mattatuckâs collection, several private collections, and the archives of Coty award-winning Seventh Avenue designer Adri will be on display in the galleries.
There will be cocktails and hors dâoeuvres served in the 20th Century Gallery, while the historical fashion parade takes place in adjacent galleries. The catwalk in the Performing Arts Center will be the stage for the 21st Century ready-to-wear, featuring designs from contemporary clothing and accessories collections modeled by local celebrities.
Participants in the fashion show will include Ann Marino, Barbara Davitt, Cathy Smith, Dee Patterson, Trish Torello, Janet Collins, Karen Pollard, Kirsten Bulkovitch, Linda Yimoyines, Lynette Letsky-Piombo, Mary Rosengrant, Sandi Vigliotti, Sharon de Escobar, Kathy Luria and Kathy Hanratty.
Fashion designers whose creations will be on display include Drama, Yansi Fugel, Hilton Hollis, Frances Francis and Co & Eddy. Jewelry designers will include Susana Storm, Sophia Forero and Caribou Sterling Silver.
The evening will begin with the viewing of the historical collection from 5:30 to 6:30, along with cocktails and elegant fare. Local celebrities will strut the runway in new fashions from 6:30 to 7:30, and shopping in the museum boutique with NYC Collections will take place from 7:30 to 9:30.
