Celebrate Spring At Garden Club’s

Arts & Flowers Tea, Sunday Afternoon

The Garden Club of Newtown will celebrate spring with its Arts and Flowers Tea on Sunday, May 6, from 2 to 4 pm, at The Dana-Holcombe House, 29 Main Street.

The event will feature the works of five local artists — Betty Christensen, Frank Gardner, Dick McEvoy, Ruth Newquist, and Susan Warner — with each work accompanied by a floral arrangement created by garden club members.

The club will also celebrate the debut of its new cookbook, Flower Buds to Taste Buds. Featuring recipes from members and special friends, the book will be available for $10 each.

The cookbook committee, Deb Osborne, Carol Garbarino and Diane Warner, has put many hours into compiling and organizing the recipes and designing the cookbook. The cover design features an original watercolor by the artist and club member Margaret Clark.

The Dana-Holcombe House is at the flagpole in Newtown. Owned by John and Jane Vouros, the beautifully decorated inn is the perfect spot to enjoy the art and flowers as well as an elegant tea prepared and served by Garden Club of Newtown members.

Tickets for the event are $20 each. Checks payable to The Garden Club of Newtown should be mailed to club president Beth Caldwell, 2 Pinnacle Drive, Newtown CT 06470. For more information call Ms Caldwell at 270-0665.
