Christina Wolf (Southern Connecticut State University softball) – After a doubleheader sweep of Assumption on April 29, the Lady Owls improved to 32-11 overall. Wolf has appeared in 30 games, with 11 starts, and is hitting .289 (13-of-45) with three doubles, four runs scored, and six RBI. In the field, she has made 16 putouts with a pair of assists.

Pete Oggeri (Wentworth Institute of Technology baseball) – WIT closed outs its regular season at 12-16 with a doubleheader sweep Endicott (4-3 and 7-1). Oggeri started all 28 games and hit .289 (25-of-90) with five doubles, a triple, 22 runs scored and five RBI. He was walked six times and hit by a pitch 12 times and all that helped him put together a .404 on-base percentage. Oggeri also led the team on the basepaths with 15 stolen bases in 17 attempts and, on defense, made a team-high 154 putouts with 30 assists.

Chris Body (Western New England College men’s lacrosse) – The No. 3 Western New England College men’s lacrosse team completed the first perfect regular season in the program’s 26-year history with a 19-5 victory over Wheaton College on Saturday, April 28. The Golden Bears (14-0) also tied the school record for wins and clinched its second consecutive Pilgrim League title with a perfect 8-0 mark. Body – the WNEC Male Athlete of the Week (April 11) – had to make just five saves in 45 minutes of action. For the season, Body has amassed 122 saves in a little more than 644 minutes of action (13 games, 12 starts) and has allowed 55 goals for a 5.12 goals-against average and .689 save percentage. The Bears hosted a semifinal round game of the Pilgrim League Tournament at 7 pm on Wednesday.

Carly Curran (University of Connecticut women’s lacrosse) – With four wins in their last six games, the Lady Huskies improved to 10-6-0 overall. Curran, a freshman defender, has appeared in seven games and has scooped two ground balls along the way.

Casey Kirch (Sacred Heart University men’s lacrosse) – Kirch, a co-captain, has appeared in all 11 games for the 3-8 pioneers and has notched a goal and an assist on six shots (four on the cage). Kirch has also scooped 15 ground balls.

John Oliver (St. Mary’s College men’s lacrosse) – With five wins in their last seven games, the Seahawks improved to 12-6-0 overall. Oliver has appeared in all 18 games, starting 11, and has 15 goals and 14 assists for 29 points. Two of his goals were game-winners. The Seahawks are the third seed in the CAC Tournament.

Ryan Bigham (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute men’s lacrosse) – The Red Hawks fell to 10-6 overall and 3-3 in the conference following an 11-7 loss to Clarkson University in the finale of the Liberty League season. The Hawks earned a fourth seed in the playoffs. Bigham, a sophomore midfielder and graduate of Trinity Pawling, has appeared in 12 games, starting one, and has notched a goal, two assists, and 10 ground balls.

Brian Sharnick (Brown University men’s lacrosse) – The Bears fell to 7-6 overall and 1-4 in the Ivy League after a hard-fought, 11-8 loss to No. 1 Cornell on April 28. The Bears will close out the regular season on May 5 against Princeton. Sharnick has started all 13 games for the Bears and has scooped nine ground balls.

David Kugielsky (Savannah College of Art & Design men’s lacrosse) – The Savannah College of Art and Design men’s lacrosse team had nine players named to the All-Southeastern Lacrosse Conference Division B team. The Bees, who are ranked 14th nationally, finished the season with a 9-6 record (the nine wins are the most recorded in a season in the short history of the program) and pounded Furman University, 15-5, in the first round of the SLEC tournament before falling to No. 2 Emory, 11-4. Kugielsky had a goal and an assist in the win over Furman.

Pat Coakley (Ohio Wesleyan University baseball) – With a 15-3 win over Wittenberg, the Battlin’ Bishops improved to 20-11 overall. Coakley has appeared in five games, collecting one hit in five trips to the plate … but that one hit was a two-run triple. Coakley has also scored two runs.

Kim Solheim (Christopher Newport University women’s lacrosse) – With five consecutive wins and eight in their last nine games, the Lady Captains concluded the regular season at 12-4-0. Solheim, a freshman D-wing and center, has appeared in 12 games and registered two shots while scooping six ground balls.

Jenna Van Waalwijk (Muhlenberg College women’s softball) – With nine losses in their last 10 games, the Lady Mules concluded the regular season at 9-23 overall. In a doubleheader sweep of Washington back on April 14, Van Waalwijk was 4-for-5 with a two and two RBI.

Matt Pachniuk (Wheaton College men’s soccer) – Senior Matt Pachniuk was chosen to compete in the New England Intercollegiate Soccer League (NEISL) Senior All-Star hame on Saturday, April 28, at Clark University. Pachniuk played on the NCAA Division III team against their Division I and II counterparts, representing one of eight Division III schools with at least two players. One of just three Division III goalies tabbed to play, Pachniuk helped lead Wheaton to an unprecedented fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament and 12-5-4 record. A four-year starter for the Lyons, Pachniuk allowed just 20 goals in 19 games for a 1.06 goals against average with six shutouts. Posting a season mark of 10-5-3, he surrendered more than one goal on only six occasions. A three-time NEWMAC All-Conference selection and 2004 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-New England player, Pachniuk will leave Wheaton as the program’s career leader with 54 wins and 29 shutouts. He also paces all Lyon keepers in minutes played while placing third in saves.

Nicole Sieber (Western Connecticut State University women’s soccer) – Freshman Nicole Sieber, a WCSU honor’s program student, was named Rookie of the Year for the 2006 fall season.
