Occupation: I am the assistant vice president branch manager at Union Savings Bank in Newtown.

Family: My husband, André, my children Vincent and Michelle, who are both grown up, and my mother, Peg Hogenauer, who lives with us, too.

Pets: My new baby is Willie. He’s a miniature poodle, just a little over a year old. He has taken over our hearts and our lives. We have a cat, too. Isaac is 12 years old, and we have a ball python snake named Sebastian.

How long have you been in Newtown? I have lived here 48 years. I was 4 years old when my parents moved to Newtown. Both my husband and myself grew up here. André moved here when he was 10 years old from Amsterdam.

What do you like to do in your free time? I sew and I like to read. I’m a member of the Newtown Chamber of Commerce, so I’ve been doing a lot with them lately. And I play with my puppy.

Do you have a favorite book? Right now, I’m reading To Kill A Mockingbird — really! And I love Nicholas Sparks’ books, especially The Notebook. But I also love thriller books like those by Steven King. One of my favorite books a long time ago was Shogun.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? We’ve been to Holland twice and that was really nice, the different culture and everything. My husband still has family there, so we stayed with his cousins. I loved the old buildings. I mean, here you have buildings that are 200 years old and we think they are old; but there, the buildings are thousands of years old. We went to the Anne Frank house in Amsterdam and it was incredible.

What is the best thing about Newtown? I love the fact that you know everybody. There’s so much warmth and camaraderie. You can’t go into the Big Y without running into half a dozen people you know.

Do you have a hero? My mother. I admire her tremendously. She has such a good heart, she is so active, and she does volunteer work. She is 81 and still on the go. And we’re best friends.

Do you have a personal philosophy? Do to others what you would want done to yourself. If you want to be respected, be respectful.

What is the most important lesson you have learned? Tell the truth. If you tell a lie, you always get caught in the end, so just be forthright.
