Albert J. Silvestro, 87, of Sandy Hook died suddenly at home April 30. He was born December 29, 1927, in Bridgeport, and was the son of the late Domiana and Lorenzo Silvestro.

After serving in the military during the Korean War, Mr Silvestro was the owner and butcher at Westport Food Centre, serving many local families for more than 35 years.

Remembered as a kind, caring, and thoughtful person, he had a passion for golf, was a Yankees fan, and a family photographer. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and was a good neighbor and friend to many in the Walnut Tree Hill community in Sandy Hook. He was a loving husband and took care of his wife during her illness. His sense of humor and kindness will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

His daughter Diana Stewart and husband Gary; sons Larry Silvestro and wife Katya Ilina, and Michael Silvestro and wife Suzanne; his twin sister Tina Iannotti; sister Jenny Altavilla; seven grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews survive Mr Silvestro. His wife of 55 years, Jean; his sister Louise Danieli; and his brothers Joe, Ralph, and Lawrence predeceased him.

There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will take place Tuesday, May 5, at 10:30 am, at St Rose Church, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown. Burial service will be at St Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford, immediately afterward.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue at www.sandyhookfire.com/donate.html, or by calling 203-270-4392.
