The dispatchers stationed at the Newtown Emergency Communications Center at Town Hall South, 3 Main Street, report the following fire calls and the emergency responders:

Thursday, April 27: 9:51 am, vehicle fire, 7 Butternut Ridge, Hawleyville and Hook & Ladder responded; 1:14 pm, alarm, 53 Church Hill Road, Hook & Ladder and Sandy Hook responded; 6:02 pm, alarm, 3 Nunnawauk Road, Hook & Ladder responded; 9:25 pm, alarm, 1 Harvest Common Road, Sandy Hook responded; 11:43 pm, medical assist, Chimney Swift Drive, Sandy Hook responded.

Friday, April 28: 12:58 am, medical assist, Suzie Drive, Hawleyville responded; 2:24 pm, initial report of a structure fire that was actually a furnace problem, 49 Lakeview Terrace, Sandy Hook, Hook & Ladder, Botsford, and Hawleyville responded; 2:46 pm, motor vehicle accident, near 180 Julia Court, Sandy Hook responded.

Saturday, April 29: 3:52 am, vehicle fire, I-84, Sandy Hook responded; 5:04 am, motor vehicle accident, I-84, Hawleyville responded; 9:32 am, alarm, 3 Nunnawauk Road, Hook & Ladder responded; 6 pm, medical assist, Charlie's Circle, Sandy Hook responded.

Tuesday, May 2: 5:52 am, motor vehicle accident, near northern intersection of Toddy Hill Road and Clearview Drive, Botsford and Sandy Hook responded; 3:53 pm, wires down, near 23 Castle Meadow Road, Botsford responded; 8:20 pm, motor vehicle accident, near 63 Sugar Street, Dodgingtown responded; 8:55 pm, appliance fire, 63 Osborn Hill Road, Sandy Hook and Botsford responded.

Wednesday, May 3: 5:46 am, burning odor outdoors, near 88 Great Ring Road, Botsford responded.

Police said motorist Sharyn Fossum, 71, of Walnut Tree Village, who was driving a 2006 Volkswagen Passat sedan about 2:45 pm on April 28, inadvertently pressed the accelerator pedal instead of the brake pedal and drove through the closed overhead garage door for her garage there. Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Fossum to Danbury Hospital, where she was treated and released, officials said, Sandy Hook firefighters responded to the incident.
