Ann M. DeMattei

Beloved By All

Ann M. DeMattei, 86, beloved wife of Anthony R. DeMattei of Newtown, died May 3 at her home. She was born in Brooklyn on April 20, 1920, a daughter of Charles and Josephine (Spatafore) Leonardo.

Mrs DeMattei grew up and was educated in Brooklyn. A resident of Newtown the past 48 years, she was a communicant of St Rose of Lima Church.

Mrs DeMattei and her husband Anthony celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on April 25.

She was wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, Anthony J. DeMattei and his wife, Laura, of New Fairfield; a daughter, Annamarie Kinsella of Middlebury; a brother, Mario Leonardo of New Jersey; two sisters, Sara Labate and Antoinette Tripodi, both of Brooklyn; and four grandchildren, James Reynolds, Dane DeMattei, Emmett Kinsella, and Devin Kinsella.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 5, at 11:30 am from the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, and at noon in St Rose of Lima Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St Rose Cemetery.

Calling hours were scheduled for Thursday, May 4, from 7 to 9 pm and Friday, May 5, from 10:30 to 11:30 am.
