DSO Concert, May 13
DANBURY â Danbury Symphony Orchestra will perform under guest conductor Jonathan Pasternack on Saturday, May 13, in Ives Concert Hall, 181 White Street. The concert will begin at 8 pm.
Mr Pasternack, symphony and opera conductor, was awarded the Silver Medal by Sir Neville Marriner at the 2002 Cadaques International Conducting Competition in Barcelona, Spain, where he was the only American invited to compete. He was appointed music director and conductor of Icicle Creek Youth Symphony (WA) in the fall of 2004 and now holds the additional title of resident conductor of Icicle Creek Music Center.
The program will include Tragic Overture by Brahms, Elgarâs Cello Concerto in E minor, and Sibeliusâ Symphony Number 5.
The soloist in the cello concerto will be British cellist Sally Singer. She has performed concertos with orchestras across the United States, toured with ensembles in Europe and the United States, and performed in the major concert halls of London and New York. She holds a doctorate in musical arts in cello from the SUNY Stony Brook.
