Galleries Will Hold Fundraiser For Local Concert Center

WOODBURY — On Saturday, May 20, and Sunday, May 21, the Woodbury Gallery Group will sponsor “Good Health & Great Art Weekend,” a fundraising event to benefit The Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center.

On Saturday from noon to 5 pm, a gallery walk and silent auction will be held along Woodbury’s “gallery mile” on Main Street South. Each gallery group member has donated one fine art piece to the auction.

Participants are invited to visit each gallery throughout the afternoon to view the donated item at each location and to place silent auction bids. Bidding will close promptly at 5 pm.

“Gallery Mile” maps will be available at each participating gallery. Members include Good News Café & Gallery, Fine Line Art Gallery, P.H. Miller Studio & Gallery, Woodbury Antiques & Fine Art, Put it Together, Fenn Gallery of Contemporary Art, David Brooker Fine Art, and Jordan Delhaise Gallery.

On Sunday from 2:30 to 4 pm, Mattatuck Museum Curator Anne Smith will speak about “Fine Art Collecting,” at The Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center, 1075 Chase Parkway in Waterbury.

The lecture will be followed by a reception, where the auction winners will be announced. Lecture tickets are $25; call 263-3939, or visit any participating gallery. Advance reservations are recommended.

All proceeds from the silent auction and lecture will go directly to the Leever Center.

The Woodbury Gallery Group is a cooperative effort between eight Woodbury art galleries.
