Centenarian Cherished By Family And Community

Mary E. Perkins, 104, beloved wife of the late Edward T. Perkins, previously of Monroe, died April 27 at St Joseph’s Manor. Born in Brookfield and raised in Newtown, Mrs Perkins resided in Monroe for 75 years before moving to St Joseph’s Manor.

Her family, including her children, Helen P. Kaechele of Newtown, Donald E. Perkins of Rock Ledge, Fla., and Marie P. Lederer of Monroe; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, will cherish fond memories. In addition to her husband, one daughter, Kathleen P Heimstra, predeceased her.

She was a dedicated teacher for St Stephen’s and St Jude’s Schools for 20 years. Mrs Perkins enjoyed community involvement, and volunteered her time to many civic organizations throughout her life.

Her interment in Stepney Cemetery will be private. Friends are invited to a memorial service on Wednesday, June 21, at 4:30 pm in the Chapel at St Joseph’s Manor.

Contributions in her memory may be directed to St Joseph’s Manor, 6448 Main Street, Trumbull CT 06611. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, of Fairfield Center.
