Shauna Shane To Offer Oil Painting Demo

The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will host an oil demonstration by Shauna Shane on Wednesday, May 10, at 7:30 pm.

The program will be held at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (Route 25, at the flagpole). The subject of Ms Shane’s painting will be an interior with a figure.                     

Shauna Shane’s paintings are light-filled expressions of the world she sees around her and are saturated with color and texture. Her work is formed by classical academic training and influenced by the impressionistic paintings of Joaquin Sorolla, John Singer Sargeant, Edgar Paune and Carl Rungus.

Before moving to Connecticut, Ms Shane was chosen for the prestigious resident artist position in Yellowstone National Park. Working from life, her landscapes, still lifes and figurative paintings have been exhibited in national and international competitions across the country including Oil Painters of America in Chicago, as well as the Salmagundi Club and the American Artists’ Professional League exhibits in New York City. Her paintings are displayed at her gallery, Fenton River Gallery in Willington, as well as galleries in Massachusetts and Montana.

This will be a return appearance by Ms Shane for SCAN, who always presents informative and entertaining demonstrations.
