For the annual Argentina Day, held this year on Friday, April 24, at Newtown High School, Spanish 4 students studied the history of the country, read stories about Argentina, ate Argentinean food, and learned how to tango.

In the school’s gymnasium, ballroom and Latin dance instructor Deb Linley, who works primarily out of Vitti’s Dance Studio in Danbury and also offers lessons through her website dancin4joy.com, showed students how to tango.

Students practiced dancing with partners before a dance contest was held at the end of the school day, with the best dancers facing off.

When the dance contest was down to four pairs of students, the top winning dancers were chosen by all participants cheering for their favorite pair.

Nick Samuelson and Caroline Cole were named as the grand prize winners for their dancing.

Ballroom and Latin dance instructor Deb Linley and her son Richard Linley danced together near the end of the school day on Friday, April 24, when the annual Newtown High School Argentina Day was held.
Newtown High School Spanish 4 students Kelsey Nicholson and Justin Nathenson rehearsed their moves for a dance contest during Argentina Day.
