A Day For Artists At

Flanders Nature Center

WOODBURY — Flanders Nature Center is holding its 3rd Annual Artists’ Day on Saturday, May 21, when artists are invited to work outdoors in the inspiring surroundings of the nature center.

Participants are welcome all day, with light refreshments, a map of the center and check-in available at the Flanders Sugar House between 9 am and 2 pm. Artists of all levels, from beginners to professionals, and in all media, such as drawing, painting, photography, fiber, printmaking, and sculpture are invited to participate.

The rain date is Sunday, May 22.

A showing of the resulting work is planned for Saturday and Sunday, June 11-12, from 10 am to 4 pm, also at Flanders’ Sugar House. An artists’ reception is planned for Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 pm.

The exhibit will then move to Woodbury Public Library from June 14 through 29.

The sale of works in the exhibit will partially benefit Flanders Nature Center.

Registration ahead of time is encouraged, but not required, by calling Blythin Leggett at Flanders Nature Center (203-263-3711). There is a $8 hanging fee.

Further information is available by calling Joan Anthony, Artists’ Day Coordinator, at 203-263-3201.

Flanders Nature Center is on Flanders Road, at the intersection with Church Hill Road (three miles north of Route 6; watch for signs).

On Artists’ Day participants are asked to check in at the Sugar House which is on Church Hill Road, one-quarter mile from Flanders Road, for information on Artists’ Day and the planned exhibit.
