Being saddled with a stress fracture in his lower back hasnât stopped junior pitcher Steve Marks from running his record to 6-1 and leading the Newtown High School baseball team to its first CIAC tournament berth in eight years. The âHawks have won four of their last five games and Marks is 3-0 in that span ⦠nailing down a 7-0, complete-game shutout over Notre Dame last Friday and following up with a complete-game, 8-3 win over Bethel on Monday. Marks is 6-1 with a 1.09 ERA, having allowed seven earned runs (five of those in one game) in 45 innings of work.
