Genealogy Club To Host ‘Researching Colonial Dutch And German Ancestors In New York’s Hudson Valley’

On Wednesday, May 11, the Genealogy Club of Newtown will host a talk titled “Researching Colonial Dutch and German Ancestors in the Hudson Valley,” presented by genealogy expert Nancy Kelly. This free program will start at 7 pm in the community room of C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street.

Mrs Kelly will explain how to identify and trace Palatine ancestors who settled in New York’s Hudson Valley region during the 1700s and 1800s. In addition to discussing some key genealogical resources available for this area of New York, she will offer practical tips for locating and interpreting clues to the family history of Dutch and German settlers.

Mrs Kelly serves as Rhinebeck town historian and is a charter member of the Rhinebeck Historical Society and the Dutchess County Genealogical Society. A frequent speaker at regional genealogy conferences and historical societies, Mrs Kelly has written many articles about Dutch and German genealogy. She and her husband are the owners of Kinship, a publisher of family history books and CDs.

The Genealogy Club of Newtown meets on the second Wednesday of every month, September through June, at C.H. Booth Library. New members and visitors are always welcome.
