NHS To Host Hoops For Troops Basketball Game

Newtown High School’s Peer Leadership is hosting a “Hoops for Troops” student versus faculty basketball game, scheduled for Friday, May 20, at 6 pm, in the NHS’s gymnasium.

Partial proceeds from the event will benefit wounded soldiers through the Wounded Warrior Project. For more information on this cause go to www.woundedwarriorproject.org.

Community members are invited to attend the event. At the door tickets will cost $2 with children under 5 years old admitted for free.

Any interested NHS students who would like to play in the game against the teachers will be charged $5. Interested students should sign up at the high school’s main office.

A raffle will be held during the event, and other contests and prizes will also be available.

Peer Leadership is also seeking donations from local businesses to be given out as prizes.
