NHS Rooster Art On View

Artwork created by Newtown High School students in Painting I under the guidance of instructor Diane Dutchick is on view at the Newtown Municipal Center until May 20.

The work was created after the students conducted research on art history movements. The students were then asked to incorporate Newtown’s favorite icon, the rooster, into their artwork. Each work of art, Ms Dutchick says, was inspired by an artist or historic art movement. From Roy Lichtenstein to Salvador Dali, students created work based on their research through art history.

A closing reception for the “Roosters” exhibition will be conducted on May 20 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.
