Adopt Miranda Or Sally Sox From The Animal Center

The following cats are available for adoption through The Animal Center.

MIRANDA had been living in an abandoned building at the Fairfield Hills Campus. She was fed and looked after by the security guards on the campus, and came in and out of the buildings through broken windows on the first floor. The guards were fond of her, but wanted more than anything to find this sweet cat a good home. They had seen her endure two winters there, and knew she preferred the company of people rather than being alone. One of the Animal Center volunteers spotted a cat food bowl on campus, and asked the guards if there was a cat around. They took the volunteer inside to meet Miranda. After living on her own for two years, Animal Center officials anticipated that it might take Miranda some time to adjust to a new life with people, but from the first day she has been friendly, sweet and affectionate. Miranda, it turns out, is a lap cat. She adores being petted and loves to sit on laps. Clearly, she once had a family and would like to have one again, Animal Center officials say. Miranda is approximately 6 years old, spayed, healthy, and current on vaccines.

SALLY SOX: While checking on one of the managed feral cat colonies, an Animal Center volunteer came across a pregnant Sally Sox wandering around a busy commercial district. Sally Sox adores everyone she meets and seems grateful to no longer be on the streets. In late March,  Sally Sox gave birth to six kittens whom she tends to day and night. Sally Sox won’t be ready for adoption until her kittens are weaned and she can be spayed (late May), but Animal Center officials are searching for a good home for Sally Sox now since adults take much longer to place than kittens.

To adopt, contact The Animal Center at info@theanimalcenter.org or 203-270-0228 (email preferred on weekends).

The Animal Center is a Newtown-based, non-profit animal welfare charity. Our feline programs provide rescue, rehabilitation, spay/neuter, and adoption services for homeless cats and kittens. The Animal Center partners with other rescue groups as well as veterinary offices to save cats who might otherwise be euthanized. The Animal Center, a 501 (c)3 publicly-supported charity, helps approximately 250 cats a year, and relies heavily on the support of the public and generous volunteers.
