Police report that at about 9 pm on April 29, they were using a computerized “license plate reader” device on the Exit 11 off-ramp of Interstate 84 to check passing vehicles for any pending vehicular violations which are keyed to their license plate numbers.

Among the vehicles that passed the device were a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu sedan whose license plate number indicated that there was pending violation, police said.

Police said that they then stopped that vehicle on Toddy Hill Road, near its intersection with Turkey Roost Road, to check the violation. Police said they charged motorist Eugene Casivant, 36, of Southbury with driving a vehicle with a suspended registration and with driving with a suspended license.
