To The Editor:

Not since the Civil War has this country been so divided. When would you ever imagine such hostility between friends, neighbors, even entire communities?

Where has our decency gone? Where are the good folks with heart and character?

My answer: Brandon Moore.

Here is a fellow who truly understands the needs of the people he hopes to serve here in this wonderful town he calls home. Some may say he is too new to politics, until they take the time to understand his background and what he has already accomplished.

Moore worked for Governor Ned Lamont and Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz in Hartford, where he helped secure employment for low-income residents across the state. The impact was real, providing thousands with well-paying jobs that enabled folks to build stable lives. This experience laid the framework for how politics can truly benefit those in need. The Governor and Lt. Governor saw in Moore a man they could, in simple terms, TRUST.

This trust was also earned through Moore’s service in the U.S. Army. For eight years, he served as an Army officer and commander, entrusted with the lives of more than 70 soldiers in combat, making decisions where lives were on the line. Moore served with valor in Afghanistan earning a Bronze Star. His commanders saw dedication, discipline, and above all, leadership.

To this voter, Moore is a man of honor, decency, and character. These qualities seem lacking in many politicians nowadays. Moore genuinely wishes to serve the good people of Newtown, as he did previously while working alongside Governor Lamont.

Brandon Moore should be Newtown’s next State Representative.
