Riders from Southbury-based Cavalier Farm had quite a showing in the Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) National Finals in Harrisburg, Penn., April 28-30. Puma Marx, a Newtown High School sophomore, and Devon LeMoine (Roxbury) competed in this season-ending event and recorded impressive results.

Marx rode in the top 18 in the nation in her USHJA Junior Varsity Beginner Equitation walk trot canter class. LeMoine placed 11th in the country in the highly competitive Varsity Open Championship class.

The event drew nearly 800 of the nation’s leading middle school and high school equestrian athletes from across the United States.

Also of note, Cavalier Farm’s Sierra Marx placed fifth among more than 400 riders in the Horsemanship Knowledge Test at Nationals.

This concludes a great season for the Cavalier Farm IEA middle and high school teams, which include many Newtown riders ages 9-17. They are coached by Cheryl LeMoine and Kristen Zawatski. The next season kicks off in September 2022.
