Thomas Michael Adams, also known as Tommy, passed away on May 5, 2023, at the age of 76, at Danbury Hospital in Danbury, Conn., after a short but aggressive illness. He was born on May 9, 1946, in Bridgeport, Conn., to Casper and Eleanor Adams. Tommy was preceded in death by his father, mother, and brother, Daniel Adams. He is survived by his wife, Maria, children Janet, Tom, and Todd, step-children Eliza and Adam, grandchildren Jeremy, Seth, Ana, Madeline, and Emma, great-grandchildren Bjorn, Ivar, and Ephraim, sisters Colleen and Noreen, and cousin Jimmy Toomey.

Tommy was larger than life, kind, and generous. He was a proud and loving grandfather and great-grandfather who definitely softened with age. He was a friend for life to anyone he befriended. Tommy graduated from Woodbury High School in Woodbury, Connecticut, and enlisted in the US Army right after high school. He served from 1964-1967.

After his military service, Tommy started his own business, Thomas M. Adams and Sons Excavation, in 1969. He owned and operated the business until his passing. Additionally, he owned and operated school buses in Newtown for over 30 years. Tommy was passionate about anything FORD cars and trucks, Harley-Davidson, and NASCAR.

Friends may call on Thursday, May 11, 2023, from 4 to 8 pm at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. A graveside service with full military honors will be held on May 12, 2023, at 11 am at Newtown Village Cemetery on Elm Drive in Newtown, Conn. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Wounded Warrior Project at WoundedWarriorProject.org
