Borough Election Draws 42 Voters

By Dottie Evans

Only 42 of the 1,227 residents of the Borough showed up Monday to vote for a slate of borough officers who were up for reelection. The Borough holds a vote every two years.

Borough Clerk Darlene Spencer commented Wednesday that she wished more people had come out to endorse the nominees even though they ran unopposed.

“The registrars and volunteers put in a long day. Even though they get a little stipend, it would be nice if more people participated,” Ms Spencer said.

The results of the machine vote that was held in the conference room of Town Hall South were the following:

Warden—Joan Crick; Burgesses—Gretchen Hyde, Joseph Maher, III, and Darlene Spencer; Clerk—Darlene Spencer; Treasurer—Marie Walker; Tax Collector—Dawn Ford; Assessor— Dawn Ford; Board of Assessment Appeals—John Madzula and Janet Woycik; Borough Zoning Commission members—Linda Shepard and David Francis; Borough Zoning Commission alternate—Palmer Chiappetta; Borough Zoning Board of Appeals members—James Crick, Jr, and Janet Woycik.
