Tai Chi And Stress Reduction

DANBURY — “Tai Chi & Stress Reduction” will be discussed at the next meeting of the Cardiac Support Group at Danbury Hospital on Wednesday, May 16, at 7 pm, in The Praxair Cancer Center conference room, located on the first floor of the Stroock Building. Parking is free in the Red Parking garage, Locust Avenue entrance.

The guest speaker will be Kenneth R. Hoffman, PhD, director of the Arcadia Health Center in Brookfield. He attained a PhD in alternative medicine, completed graduate training at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine that included both conventional medicine such as anatomy, pathophysiology, diagnosis and nutrition, the use of herbal medicines, and in-depth study of Chinese meridian theory and acupuncture.

Dr Hoffman also completed an internship at St John’s Riverside Hospital in Yonkers, N.Y., and worked in conventional medicine as an EMT and psychiatric technician. He holds licensure in both Rhode Island and Connecticut, as well as national certifications in Oriental Medicine and Chinese Herbology.

The Cardiac Support Group meets at Danbury Hospital on the third Wednesday of the month, and offers people with heart disease, pre- and postoperative cardiothoracic surgical patients, their families and caregivers, education, encouragement and support.
