8-Year-Olds

Frate Custom Cabinetry/Winnick Steel: Great pitching this week from David Braun who recorded 2 strikeouts and solid pitching from Jackson Newsom and Ryan Verdi. The offense was led by Orion Bracksieck, Matt Williams, and Kyle Pettit.

Apex Glass: The team had great pitching performances from Zander Kasbarian, Drew Poseno, Andrew McMahon, and George Sandercox — with each pitcher recording strikeouts. George played a strong game defensively, catching multiple innings, while Andrew caught an inning ending fly ball in the second inning at shortstop. Offensively, Zander and Drew were both on base with multiple hits. The offensive star of the game was Matthew McMahon, who had multiple hits including a line drive RBI single over the head of the first baseman into right field. Edwin Tout, Ryan McMahon, Tommy Gies, and Michael Jewell all had multiple hits and scored runs in the game. Connor Smith and Cooper Agresta both were on base with hits and played strong games at the catching position.

Landscaping Unlimited: The Landscaping Unlimited Yellow Jackets got off to a great start on Saturday with some stellar pitching by Jake Hossler and a great play at shortstop by RJ Eller in the first inning. Their bats were swinging throughout the game with singles by Walker Previdi, Tyler Harrison, Blake Palmer, Benjamin Ochs, and Eric Gray. Great pitching by Eric Gray and RJ Eller helped the team through the third and fifth innings along with great fielding by Brian Pendergast at second base, Blake Palmer at first base and an awesome catch by Jake Hossler in right field.

Stratton Faxon Law: Stratton-Faxon had a strong offensive and defensive game. Steven Cotton pitched well and had some strong at bats, as did Matthew Berard. Catchers Connor Faxon and Colin Adis had strong performances behind the plate. Andrew Kugler contributed a nice hit and Cameron Audet legged out an RBI single to get things started.

Network Synergy Corp: The Black Knights played a great game and were led by the strong pitching of Ryan Heran, Jack Petersen, and Brandon Akbas. The leading hitters for the Black Knights were Miller Tetreault, Jake Mailloux, and Cal Reilly, while Harry Majlinger and Teddy Teraszkiewicz played outstanding defense.

Art and Frame of Danbury: Sean O’Sullivan got the start on the mound and pitched a scoreless inning and also banged out four hits. Hayden Miller pitched a scoreless inning as well, striking out the side. Miller also added four hits including a long double. The defensive play of the game was turned in by Travis McClay who caught a deep fly ball in center field. Wiley Harris finished up on the mound for the Art and Framers, while James Hillefeld, William Hornby, Trevor Hislop, and Timmy Vigneau all contributed hits.

9-Year-Olds

Impact Men In Black 3, Big Dawgs 3: In a  well-pitched contest by both teams, Jack Street, Matthew Bradbury, and Luke Hannan each threw two innings and struck out 13 batters. Jack Stenz, Jesse Kinnsman, and Luke Hannan scored, while Matthew Bradbury, Jack Street, and Michael Haddick drove in a run each.

Big Dawgs 7, Haywood Insurance Marines 4: The Big Dawgs again pitched very well. Michael Haddick, Jack Dandrea, Nick Fischer, and Jack Street all pitched in to fortify the win, striking out 14. Grant Baker, Jesse Kinnsman, and Jack Street all scored once, while Luke Hannan and Mathew Bradbury scored twice.

McGuire’s Ale House Brewers 7, Haywood Insurance Marines 5: The Brewers jumped out to a 7-0 lead and held off a late rally from the Marines for the victory. For the Brewers, Shaine Luzietti, Aidan Finnegan, Jake Pare, and Josh Taylor combined for four scoreless innings. Tristan Andrew came in relief to hold off the Marines in the last inning. Offensively the Brewers were led by Shaine Luzietti, Brett Melchionno, and Josh Taylor with two hits each. The Marines got strong pitching from Tom Tavar, Joey Rios, Andrew Godfrey, and Connor Haywood holding the Brewers scoreless for four innings. At the plate the Connor Haywood and Anthony Dorazio led the way with two hits each.

Mobil 1 Drillers 11, Big Dawgs 10: The Drillers defeated the Big Dawgs in thrilling comeback fashion. Down by six runs late in the game, the Drillers closed the deficit to one going into the last inning and scored two runs for the exciting walk-off win. Cole Morelli pitched two strong innings of relief, while hitting standouts Jared Dunn, Robbie Hetzer, and Eamon Doherty led the offense en route to the 11-10 win. The Big Dawgs were led on offense by Jake Dandrea with two RBIs and two hits, Matthew Bradbury with two RBIs and two hits, two runs scored by Luke Hannan and Jack Street, and Harrison Hermes reached base twice.

Haywood Insurance Marines 9, Impact Men in Black 7: The Marines were down 7-3 to the Men in Black going into the fifth inning when they scored two runs and then added four runs in the sixth to rally to a 9-7 lead. Andrew Godfrey drove in two runs and Connor Haywood had clutch hit driving in two runs to tie the game in the sixth. Will Swift and Daniel Pond pitched well in relief of Thomas Tavar. Joey Rios pitched two scoreless innings in relief to seal the win.

Mobil 1 Drillers 15, Impact Men in Black 2: The Drillers were hitting on all cylinders as they cruised to a 15-2 win over the Men in Black. Leading the team with outstanding pitching performances were CJ Giacin and Patrick Boyle. Reagin Gallagher, CJ Demers, and Stephen Dooley paced the offensive onslaught.

McGuire’s Ale House Brewers 9, Big Dawgs 9: On the hill for the Brewers, Tristan Andrew, Jake Pare, and Josh Taylor combined for four scoreless innings of work. For the Big Dawgs, Nick Fischer and Jack Street threw three scoreless innings and had seven strikeouts. Matt Bradbury made a great catch in left center and doubled up the Brewers to end a bases-loaded scoring threat in the fourth inning. Offensively the Brewers had big hits from Jake Pare with a double in the second inning, Josh Taylor with a triple and a double, and Kyle Reilley with a key two out RBI single. The Big Dawgs were paced offensively by Luke Hannan who finished the game with three hits, Jack Street with two hits and Sean Roche with an RBI double.

10-Year-Olds

Cubs 10, Phillies 7: Bobby Elston belted a 3-run homerun and Ben Talbot and Jack Sullivan had big hits as the Cubs earned their second victory. Jonathan Nahmias and Todd Petersen pitched well while Luke Azzarito played well defensively.

Brave 7, Cubs 6: In a thrilling game, the Braves edged the Cubs with a walk-off triple by Tyler Fuori that scored Trevor Tyrrell from first base. The Cubs broke out on top when Ben Talbot lined a hard single to left that scored two. Ryan Beardley had a double and a RBI in the second. Chris Venezia and Bobby Elston also had a RBI. The Cubs stole seven bases over the first three innings to take a 6-3 lead into the bottom of the third. The Braves’ Gavin Conners lined a triple to right center field that tightened the score at 6-5. Trevor Tyrrell singled in Sean Arnold for the tying run in the sixth. Liam Loging pitched a 1-2-3 fourth, while Tyler Fuori shut the Cubs down over the fifth and sixth innings. In the field Todd Petersen snared a line drive to save a run in the forth inning and another nice grab to start the fifth.

Quality Dental Rays 2, Frate Custom Cabinetry Phillies 1: Rays pitchers Joseph Pagett, Miles Ricks, Charlie Asetta, and Michael Cotton outdueled Phillies pitchers Dan Mason, Connor Moran, and Jack Mulligan in a game where the pitchers were the stars. Miles Ricks plated James Schumacher on a ground out, and Colby Fowler drove in Charlie Asetta with a sacrifice fly to account for the Rays two runs. Will Archiere drove in Connor Moran on an infield single for the Phillies only run. Nolan Adis made a nice catch in right field for the Phillies. With the tying run on base in the final inning, Dan Mason hit a sinking liner into left field that was sure to tie the game, but Rays left fielder Carter Tagliarini made a sensational catch to clinch the victory.

Quality Dental Rays 7, DVP Technology Pirates 4: It took extra innings to settle the score, but the Rays scored 4 runs in the top of the eighth to hold off the Pirates. In the eighth, consecutive hits by James Schumacher (triple), Charlie Asetta (single), Miles Ricks (double), and Colby Fowler (single), each of whom had 2 hits on the night, and an RBI single by Connor Hughes scored the four runs for the Rays. Great Rays defensive plays were made by Wyatt Cerreta on a diving catch in right field, Carter Tagliarini who caught a liner at second base, and shortstop Michael Cotton who fielded a grounder up the middle, stepped on second, and threw to first for the double play. For the Pirates, the bats were alive and well with the Pirates in six innings of play. Unfortunately, the runners were left on base, with the hits going to the fielders. Base hit single contributions: from Ryan Nolan and Dylan Munro. Dylan went two for three with two singles. A double hit by Paul Samberg in the first inning, and in extra innings with a 3-2 count Bryan Vander Have hit a line triple that turned into a home run. In the field, Jake Goldstein made a spectacular play at second base to end an inning and to keep the score tied. Ayden Kasbarian pitched two shutout innings to keep the score even thru the fifth and sixth.

Newtown Pools Cubs 11, Quality Dental Rays 9: The Cubs came out on top in a seesaw battle that saw the lead change hands four times. Todd Petersen had two hits and pitched two scoreless innings for the save, Jonathan Nahmias reached base all four times, and scored three runs, and Brendan Smith had three hits including a clutch 2 RBI single to lead the Cubs to victory. For the Rays, Joseph Pagett hit a 2-run inside the park home run and pitched two scoreless innings of relief, Jack Ketchum had three hits, James Schumacher had two hits including a triple, and Miles Ricks had two hits.

Pirates 8, A’s 0: The hitting continued with the Pirates on Saturday against the A’s. Ben Albee was the star hitter as he went 3 for 3 at bat with a single and two doubles, Paul Samberg was exciting to watch in the batter’s box as he hit a home run and a triple, Jeff Gieole had two singles, Thomas Luciano had a nice line drive single and a RBI. The pitchers held the A’s strong hitters from scoring, with Justin DeThomas pitching two strong innings in the middle innings. Thomas Luciano started on the mound, with Ben Albee pitching the second, Justin DeThomas third and fouth, Ayden Kasbarian fifth, and Bryan VanderHave closing the game. In the field, Dylan Munro made two crucial plays at third base in the fifth inning to keep the A’s quick base runners from scoring.

Phillies 15, Braves 9: The Phillies jumped out of the box early with 12 runs in the first two innings, capped off by a grand slam by Conner Moran, long triple and double by Jack Mullegan. The Braves chipped away but the deficit was too great. Trevor Tyrrell, Liam Loging, and Tyler Fuori each went 2 for 3 with one, two and five RBI respectfully. Dan Mason gave up one run over the first two innings for the Phillies.

11-Year-Olds

Sal e Pepe Inferno 6, Mobil 1 Lube Express Blue Devils 4: In a close game throughout, the Sal e Pepe Inferno prevailed over the Mobil 1 Blue Devils. Sammy Kapur pitched two innings of 1-run ball, Ryan Burns pitched two scoreless innings and Easton Ricks pitched two innings giving up 3 runs in a strong defensive game, led by Kevin Riccardi for The Inferno. On offense Robert Disibio, Jack Hannan, and Dillon Larkin each had an RBI and Easton Ricks had 2 for The Inferno. The Blue Devils had shutout pitching from Josh Dunn, David Kohler, and Luke Kirby. On offense for the Blue Devils, Jeremy Larkin and Derrick Lewis each had a hit and Jack Heinlein had an RBI. David Kohler had a 2-run homer over the fence in the bottom of the sixth to make the game closer to add to an RBI in the first. The homer added to David Kohler’s total after hitting a grand slam on Wednesday and a 2-run homer on Friday.

Ingersoll Auto 5, Ferro Financial Green Machine 3: The Ingersoll Auto team had its first win Sunday. The pitching corps of Ben Terry, Shane Demers, and Eric Moore had a solid day allowing just 3 runs. Offensively, Simon Preston had a big 2-run triple and also getting big hits were Shane Demers and Ben Terry. Ingersoll Auto stopped a delayed steal attempt in the last inning with pitcher Eric Moore’s throw to catcher Doug Carriero who made the tag; also playing well defensively were Cody Computaro, Jack Forgione, and Bobby Ward. The Green Machine was led defensively by Jack Swanson at first base. Jackson Dooley, Kyle Roche, and Tim Shaw were strong on the mound. Matt Jewell played tough in the outfield while Nicholas Stowell and Jack Miller were stellar behind the plate at catcher.

Sugar Hill Auto Sharks 7, Carminuccio’s Pizza 1: The Sharks played a complete team game this past Sunday, earning their first win behind the four-hit game of Ryan Williams and three hits form Harry Lucas. Justin Kahn, John Finnegan, and Jamey Hobar all contributed base hits, while Ryan Mailloux, Robert Murray, Jamey Hobar, Williams, and Finnegan all pitched scoreless innings. Brandon Giglio and Jimmy Doutney played strong defensive games in the infield. Carminuccio’s Pizza had a strong game from Tess Davenport and Luke Mellilo on defense. Mason Fiorilla and Alexander Katsuleres had a great game along with Jeremy Fisher and Jack McDonnell.

Ages 14/15

Newtown Rich’s Keys and Locks 13, New Milford 3: The Lock Pickers continued their offensive onslaught with a 12-hit attack against New Milford. Dillon Palumbo had an outstanding game, going 4 for 4, with two singles, a double, and a triple, with six RBI. Jack Procaccini went 2 for 3, including a switch hit double over the center fielder’s head. Jake Simonson also went 2 for 3, with two runs scored and Brandon O’Sullivan contributed a single, with two RBI and two runs scored. Harry Duffy had an excellent all-around game, with two hits, two RBI, and two outstanding defensive plays that saved multiple runs. Newtown used six different pitchers in the six-inning game, with Michael Doyle picking up the win. The other Newtown pitchers were Colten Moroney, Jake Simonson, Brandon O’Sullivan, Alex Rushmore, and Dillon Palumbo.

Newtown Law Offices of Gail Matthews 10, Newtown Rich’s Keys and Locks 6: Connor Roche went 2 for 4, with two RBI to pace the Lock Picker offense. Dillon Palumbo continued his torrid hitting, going 2 for 4 with a single, double, and two RBI. Jake Simonson, Alex Rushmore, Sam Czel, and Michael Doyle each added base hits. Connor Roche was affected on the mound, pitching two hitless innings, with four strikeouts.

Ages 16-19

Pomperaug 8 Newtown 7: The Newtown Lightning, sponsored by VFW Post 308, squandered a 5-0 second-inning lead with poor fielding and didn’t provide enough hitting support for its pitcher, Eric Sutton, who pitched the entire game Sunday night at Fairfield Hills Field. Sutton yielded just three earned runs, walked only one batter, and struck out 10. Newtown had plenty of base runners but, playing without three of its top hitters, couldn’t get enough timely hits to knock in runs during the third through seventh innings. The Lightning offense was led by John Lebinski, who drilled a two-RBI single, and Sutton, who drove in two runs with a single and a hit by pitch. Newtown’s David Vallerie played an excellent all-around game, playing a flawless second base, scoring a run and ripping a single down the left field line and a long fly to center.
