Earth Day Was A Proud Day For Newtown
Earth Day Was A Proud Day For Newtown
To the Editor:
The fifth annual Earth Day celebration held at the middle school on April 28 was a huge success. Not only did the 60-plus vendors gain enormous support and exposure to a fast-growing consumer market where safe and suitable products are in high demand, but also the several local environmental and school groups who daily work toward preparing our future leaders for safety in our environment got a chance to show the community their good work.
We should all be proud of our town for showing up for this important event. The throngs of people could have made it out solely for the great food and wonderful local music and dancing on stage. However, the support from many local companies such as Iroquois Gas, Taunton Press, The Housatonic Waldorf School, Events Party and Tent Rentals, My Place, Stone River Grille, The Newtown Bee, St Rose for the use of tables, and several other companies along with campaign stops for some prospective politicians and many of our own officials proved that Earth Day is not just important, but something we all can get behindâ¦regardless of prior and current affiliations.
A special thank you to the entire group of volunteers, friends, family and the staff and janitors at the Newtown Middle School for making our day nearly effortless.
Again, thank you and we look forward to next year.
Regards,
