Head O’ Meadow Community Team Visited By DAWS

Danbury Animal Welfare Society (DAWS) Community Outreach Coordinator Cathy Lent visited Head O’ Meadow School Thursday, April 26, and talked to Head O’ Meadow’s School Community Team about her organization.

DAWS is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of animals in our community and beyond, according to the organization.

Ms Lent brought one of the dogs, Gigi, she is fostering to visit the students on Thursday.

While visiting with the School Community Team, Ms Lent talked about the different ways people can help DAWS. The organization’s key message to help DAWS is: adopt a cat or dog, donate items the shelter needs, foster one of its many dogs and cats, and volunteer time. Volunteers must be 18 years or older.

She also talked about safe ways to approach a dog, including asking for permission to pet the dog, not running toward the dog, and more.

Before Ms Lent’s visit, the School Community Team members collected towels, paper towels, paper plates, and laundry detergent from Head O’ Meadow families to donate to the organization.
