Diamond Electrical Supply vs McCann Brothers: Diamond Electrical Supply started the game with hits by Aidan Herbstman and Alyssa Jones. Gwenyth Shaw, Alexa Glynn, and Summer Harrell also had great line shot hits with everyone scoring a run. Michaela Bonacci and Sara Olam played great defense in the field with awesome stops. Eleanor Glassman and Katie Daoust did a great job by catching the outs while playing at first base. Tory Lewis finished up the game for Diamond Electrical Supply with a great throw to first from third. The McCann Brothers’ Pink Panthers had a strong showing Saturday. At the plate, Maren Leyva, Sarah Kovach, Grace Popkin, and Noelle Marrazzo had solid base hits, while defensively Addie Sullivan had two putouts at first base. Also playing strong in the field were Sofia Verdi, Caroline Gardner, Grace Lynch, Rachel Casagrande, and Jocelyn Bazuro.

Craig Doersch Painting vs Carminuccio’s Pizza: Ashlynn MacLeod played a great game for Craig Doersch Painting with a strong arm at shortstop and a deep hit during the third inning out to right field. During the second inning, Casey Quinn had a sharp hit down the third baseline and provided great defense at first base. Cassie Fossum, Lily Mindenhall, and Ashley Cote all had multiple base hits. Gabriella Arnold had a great stop at third base in the first inning and closed out the game with a big hit to second base. Carminuccio’s Pizza began with terrific infield playing by Hailey Avari at first base, Caitlin Milks at the pitching mound and Lauren Young at third. Deidre Smith, Ashley Hubner, and Abigail McManus had strong performances at the plate.

New England Bounce About 11, Nuzzo Electric 5: Nuzzo Electric’s Carly Nuzzo had three hits and drove in two runs, Melina Cummings and Ava Berry each had two hits and each drove in a run. Victoria Chop pitched well and Gina Lewis, Emma Archiere and Sophie Satmary played well in the field. Allison Pavlicek singled and scored one run.

U10

Newtown Hardware 1, Bennett Sullivan of Southbury 4: Virginia Hepp, Olivia Grant, and Tess Trahan had key hits that provided Newtown Hardware the early lead. Heather Stroili, Samantha Black, and Beth Savinelli pitched shutout innings with three strikeouts each. Shauna Tucker, Julie Hess, and Ally Hurley played good defense.

Associated Refuse 9, Brookfield 6: Away from home Associated found itself with no hits and down 6-0 at the bottom of the second inning. Once the Associated girls found their grove, they were on fire. With impressive pitching from the mound by Juliette Cryder and Sienna Cummings and excellent catching skills by Brianna Giglio and Catherine Pendergast, Brookfield was scoreless for the remainder of the game. Alea Willis had two RBI. Sienna, Emily Krasnickas, and Veronica Vodola each scored a run. Catherine, Victoria Keayes, and Meghan O’Rourke scored two each in the last two innings for the 9-6 win.

Stone River Grille 5, Pomperaug One 1: Stone River Grille rallied at the top of the third inning, demonstrating a true team effort! A total of seven hits from Angela Carriero, Gracie Eurell, Allie Daoust, Shanna Adam, Chloe Bigwarfe, Rissa Swanson, and Izzy Satmary resulted in 4 runs during this inning. Shanna Adam and Gracie Eurell both pitched another spectacular game. Stone River Grille wins it with a final score of 5 to 1.

McCann Brothers 1, Pomperaug Two 5: Ashleigh Thomas led McCann Brothers with two hits. Grace McEneaney also added a hit and scored a run. Sarah Holcomb was outstanding in the field and Lauren Kohler was stellar behind the plate in her catching debut.

Hawks Travel 15, Ridgefield 6: Newtown Hawks had hits from Kendra Saunders, Chloe Bigwarfe, Beth Savinelli and a double by Ryssa Swanson. Chloe Bigwarfe connected with Juliette Cryder to put out a Rebel trying to steal second base. Newtown had solid pitching from Shanna Adam, Beth Savinelli, and Gracie Eurell. Together they combined for 10 strikeouts to bring Newtown to a 15-6 Win.

U12

McCann Brothers 5, Southbury/Pomperaug 4: Nicki Lillis made a great shoestring catch at second base to end the second inning. McCann was down 4-3 going into their last at bat. Substitute player Rachel O’Grady scored the winning run. She was on third when the last batter, Lindsey Sherwood, got walked with bases loaded. Sophie Ackert and Rachel O’Grady pitched two solid innings apiece. Cassandra Berro got her first single of the season and Rachel Daum had a hot bat.

WellBaskets.com 18, Southbury/Pomperaug 11: Kaysie Fisher hit a single, Tegan Doherty hit a double and Nicki DaPra hit a triple in this high-scoring game and Christina Sgobbo, Madalynn Giglio, Kayla McClay, and Kaelana Dauber all scored for WellBaskets.com. Strong defense came from Vanessa Tucker at second base, and Ali Nuzzo and Rachel O’Grady who looked strong on the mound.

Claim Services International 15, McCann Brothers 14: In an exciting game loaded with offense, Claim Services International and McCann Brothers battled back and forth, entering the final half inning with McCann Brothers leading 14-9. Claim Services dug in and strung together a series of hits to tie the game before Kaysie Fisher knocked in the winning run with a sharp single. Hitting stars for Claim Services were Kaysie Fisher with three singles and four RBIs, Sarah Dowling with three singles and three RBI, Anna Johnston with two singles and four RBI, and Elizabeth Maker with two singles and two RBI. Kaysie Fisher, Emma McGrath, and Sarah Dowling contributed solid pitching to keep the game within reach.

For McCann Brothers, it was a hard-fought battle ending in an upsetting loss. McCann started off strong with a single to left field by Sophie Ackert resulting in the team’s first RBI of the day. Abby Pereira followed with a 2-run homer to center field. Sara Matté rounded out the first inning with a single and RBI. Cassandra Berro also had a strong showing at the plate with a 3 RBI single in the second inning. Allie Eurell pitched a great game, striking out a total of five batters in two innings.

Hawks Travel 10, Danbury 6: Big hitters included Erin Burns with a double and 2 RBI, Tegan Doherty with a triple, and Jackie Gouveia with a home run and 3 RBI. Defense standouts included Rylee Mulligan behind the plate and Jackie Gouveia at short. In an impressive, heads-up play, Erin Burns ended a fourth inning Danbury rally from right field by throwing out a runner trying to stretch a single into a double. Tegan Doherty’s steadfast resolve on the mound earned her the win in this exciting game, and the entire Hawks team showed admirable grit and team spirit. John M Glover Agency Wild Thing 17, Southbury 11: The Wild Thing won their second game Saturday against Southbury with very tough defense including two double plays. Jillian Gibney, Joanna Vodola, and Jackie Sgobbo all added to the defense. Tina Demaio added a great catch at third, while Sam Cody caught a pop-up at the plate with a sliding dive. Lexi Tucker was very solid on the mound helping her team to a 2-0 start for the season.
