Every year, Hawley Elementary School Principal Jo-Ann Peters said on Wednesday, May 2, at the start of her schoolâs annual art show, art teacher Vicki Sheskin and Hawley students outdo themselves, and this year Ms Peters said she is again amazed by the creativity on display.
Artwork created by students throughout the year were on view for the school community on Wednesday night, from robots by first graders on display in the schoolâs library/media center to âLine Design Treesâ by third graders on display in one of the schoolâs hallways.
âThe kids are so excited,â said Ms Sheskin as she welcomed guests to the event.
New this year were âCharacter Treesâ created by fourth graders based on the school districtâs Character Development Committeeâs Core Character Attributes tree. Ms Sheskin explained the Character Trees combined drawing and writing, as students described different character attributes within the districtâs Character Development Committeeâs Core Character Attributes tree.
âIt was a wonderful night, as always. The families seem to really appreciate the creativity of the students and it is very uplifting to be able to see all that we have accomplished in art class over the school year,â said Ms Sheskin after the event.
Head Oâ Meadowâs annual Festival of the Arts is set for Monday, May 21, and Sandy Hook Schoolâs annual art show is scheduled for Thursday, May 24.Â
