HOUSTON MUSEUM OF DECORATIVE ARTS ANNOUNCES FIVE UPCOMING EXHIBITS

Avv/gs set 5-14 #699700

CHATTANOOGA, TENN. — Chattanooga’s Houston Museum of Decorative Arts has announced a schedule of five special exhibits during the next 12 months.

Starting in July, the special exhibits at the Houston will be the following:

July and August, “Peaceable Kingdom,” including items decorated with, or having the form of, animals.

September and October, “Victorian What’s Its,” featuring a potpourri of curious pieces and objects.

November and December, “Holiday Hues,” with colors of the holiday season — reds, greens, golds and silvers in glass and ceramics.

January–March, “Parade of Platters and Plates,” featuring ceramic and glass platters and plates.

April through June 2008, “Treasures in the Houston Attic,” featuring the favorite Houston treasures of TV appraiser Joe Rosson.

The Houston Museum contains the collections of the late Anna Safley Houston, who left them in trust for the people of Chattanooga at her death in 1951.

The museum is housed in a restored century-old Victorian house.
