‘OUTSIDE IN’ SHOW WILL HIGHLIGHT GAGA ARTS CENTER’S FESTIVAL JUNE 9–10 w/1 cut

GARNERVILLE, N.Y. — The Gaga Arts Center will present “Outside In, an Outsider Art Show,” featuring the paintings and sculpture of 25 self-taught “outsiders” and American folk artists at the Gaga Arts Center as a part of this year’s Gaga Arts Festival. The show opens June 9 from 11 am to 6 pm and is on view through July 15.

“I’m very excited about this exhibition,” says Gaga’s new executive director and co-curator James Tyler. “We have some fantastic artists from up and down the East Coast, many of them with national reputations within the outsider art world; and with over 8,000 square feet of beautifully raw gallery space available, we will be able to display a real representative body of work from each of the participating artists. It’s just a natural fit for Gaga. People are going to love this show.”

Featured artists include Matt Sesow, Ted Ludwiczak, Mike Conner, Brendon Burke, Ross Brodur, Lacy Duhrssen, Chezaraie Giuliano, Daniel Genova, John-Paul Quinones, Bob Justin, Mike Jacobs, Alice Silva, Carmen C. Johnson, Stephen Anderson, Ellie Ali, Gabril Shaffer, Carole Gelker and Toni Quest.

The show is opening in conjunction with the 2007 Gaga Arts Festival, which is held every year at the Garnerville Arts and Industrial Center. More than 5,000 visitors are expected for the annual two-day event.

Also on view through July 15 is “Summer Love,” curated by Andréa Stanislav and Macy Topp, showcasing artists Kathy Budd, David Helms, Vellessa Monk, Clive Murphy, Andrea Polli, Jenny Schimd and Andréa Stanislav.

The exhibition features contemporary artwork that questions and explores the folly, work and heat of summer, through printmaking, photography, sculpture and sound.

Gaga is at 55 Railroad Avenue. For information, 845-947-7108 www.garnervillearts.com, or gaga@garnervillearts.com.
