LONDON — The fine range of sculpture to be found here will be highlighted by exhibitions mounted by five dealers during the fourth staging of London Sculpture Week which takes place, June 14–22.

Sculpture from ancient Egypt, classical Greece and Rome, Asian civilizations stretching from Mongolia to India, Europe from the Romanesque to the Renaissance periods, as well as postwar Britain will all be featured.

The five participating dealers are Sam Fogg Ltd, medieval sculpture, works of art and manuscripts; Daniel Katz Ltd, European sculpture from 900 to 1900; Robin Katz, Twentieth Century British art; Rossi & Rossi Ltd, Indian, Tibetan and Himalayan art; and Rupert Wace Ancient Art, Egyptian, Classical, Near Eastern and European antiquities. Each will mount a special exhibition.

The oldest pieces will be found at Rupert Wace Ancient Art in a display of sculpture from Egypt, Greece and Rome, including a Roman marble figure of Asclepius, the god of medicine, dating from the Second Century.

Asian art will be at Rossi & Rossi, Ltd which will exhibit a selection of Himalayan sculpture including a Northwest Indian brass, silver and copper inlay figure of the celestial Buddha Vairocana from the Seventh to Eighth Century.

Sam Fogg Ltd will focus on European carvings in wood, stone, marble and alabaster, dating from the Eleventh to the early Sixteenth Century. Among the highlights will be a standard carried in procession by the Confraternity of the Holy Blood in Bruges circa 1480–1500.

Daniel Katz is exhibiting a group of Italian Renaissance bronzes from the collection of Alfred Beit (1853–1906), including an extremely fine cast of the framed “Spinario” by Severo da Ravenna (active circa 1496–1543).

By contrast Robin Katz specializes in Twentieth Century British art and for his first exhibition in his new gallery space in his father’s premises at 13 Old Bond Street he is showing a selection of postwar British sculpture. Among the pieces will be a relief by Sir Eduardo Paolozzi (1924–2005), made in 1981 for the famous Appicella restaurant in London.

Show hours are Monday to Friday, 11 am to 6 pm, and Saturday, 11 am to 4 pm. For information, 020 7493 0688 or www.londonsculptureweek.com.
