Summer Carillon Concerts
NEW HAVEN â Yale University Guild of Carillonneurs has announced its 2007 carillon concert series. The summerâs schedule will include both local and international artists performing classical music, original carillon compositions, and plenty of modern popular favorites.
The first concert will be held on Sunday, June 10, followed by concerts every Friday evening, from June 15 to August 10. The concerts are free, and will run from 7 to approximately 8 pm.
The 54-bell Yale Memorial Carillon in Harkness Tower is best heard from the Saybrook College courtyard, at the corner of Elm and High streets. Seating is not provided, but the audience is encouraged to bring picnic dinners, lawn chairs, and blankets.
In case of inclement weather, an indoor listening space will be provided to concert goers. The guild requests that no dogs be brought into the Saybrook courtyard.
