NHS Boys Stand Out In Annual Track Meet
Select members of Newtown High Schoolâs boysâ track and field team participated in the 45th Annual Glenn D. Loucks Games in White Plains, NY on May 11 and 12. The meet is the second-largest high school track meet in New England (second to the Penn Relays) with almost 3,000 athletes from 275 schools competing.
Outstanding Newtown results included Lauren OâConnellâs third place finish in the pole vault event with an 11 foot effort; Jake Feinstein, 9th in the 3200 meters in a best in Connecticut this year time of 9:17.83.
Other Newtown highlights: Peter Kerns 34th in the 400 in 51.11; John Hampford 21st in the 400 Hurdles in 60.59; Jordan Hensel, 27th in the 3000 steeplechase in a school record time of 10:49.69; and the 4x800 meter relay team of Pat Sullivan, Palmer Lintz, Dieter Gutbrod, and Feinstein finished fifth in the Tri State Championship race in 8:14.16.
