CENTER FOR PHOTOGRAPHY AT WOODSTOCK WILL OFFER PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS
avv/gs set 5-22 #700736
WOODSTOCK, N.Y. â Celebrating its 30th year, the Center for Photography at Woodstock (CPW) will present the Woodstock Photography Workshop and Lecture series 2007. Offered each year, JuneâOctober, this program allows photographers at all levels to study with renowned talents from the international field in an hands-on setting.
Since 1977, CPW has offered the workshops and lecture series. Creating a dialogue between master photographers and new talent, each class is limited in size and tailored to meet the needs of a diverse audience, from the beginning image maker to the professional photographer. Photographers can take time to make new work, share ideas, learn new techniques and rekindle their passion for photography in a supportive environment with fellow peers who share their passion for the medium.
Some highlights of the 2007 series offerings include contemporary documentary practices with Mary Ellen Mark, creative vision class with Keith Carter, the art of light with Lauren Piperno, photographic story telling with Syliva Plachy and new approaches to the figure with George Holz.
Additionally, photographers can learn new processes and sharpen technical skills in classes like palladium printing with Craig Barber, learn the historic salt and silver process with Dan Estabrook, or explore new mediums in an encaustic workshop for photographers co-hosted with R&F Handmade Paints.
The series also includes professional development opportunities. including a workshop with Doug Menuez on balancing oneâs photography between artistic and commercial pursuits, or how to take the next step with Sam Abell, as well as the popular âGetting Known/Being Shownâ workshop providing information and advice for those ready to exhibit, publish and promote their work.
Preregistration for classes is required. Registration is now open and continues throughout the season. A fully illustrated catalog is free and available on request or can be downloaded at www.cpw.org.
The Center for Photography at Woodstockâs Evening Photography Lecture series, also now in its 30th year, runs parallel to its workshops. Open to the public, internationally celebrated photographers will talk about their work and share their stories in an intimate setting.
