Chase Collegiate School Announces Commencement Speaker

WATERBURY — Chase Collegiate School will welcome Libby Bianchi Edelman as the speaker for the school’s 139th Commencement Ceremony. Ms Edelman, an alumna of the Class of 1971 and graduate of New York University’s School of Journalism, is widely known as the co-founder and vice president of Sam & Libby Shoes.

She has worked for Harper’s Bazaar and Seventeen magazines. Ms Edelman and her husband, Sam, worked together to create the shoe division of  Esprit. They went on to develop their own line of shoes.

After taking a break from the fashion industry to focus on raising her three children, during which time she organized a school newspaper, taught photography, and chaired a school auction that raised half a million dollars, Ms Edelman is combining her knowledge of the fashion industry and love of sports in an entirely new concept of fitness apparel known as SLVR by Aerogear.

On commencement day — Friday, June 1, 10:30 am — the Chase Collegiate School Class of 2007 will hear insights from one of the nation’s leading female entrepreneurs, the leadership opportunities that have shaped her career, and the choices she made along the way.

Chase Collegiate School is an academically demanding coed day school in the classic independent school tradition for students in grades preK-3 through 12.
