MONROE â The annual Book Sale of the Friends of the Edith Wheeler Memorial Library in Monroe will take place June 2-6, in the old library at town hall. The indoor location will accommodate the large number of books and other media for sale, as well as provide ample space for shoppers and browsers rain or shine. It is handicapped accessible.
Quality books of all kinds, as well as audio books, videos, CDs, DVDs, computer software, records, cassettes, music scores, puzzles and games will be available. Notable types of books include recent hardcover fiction, old and interesting, and a substantial assortment of childrenâs and young adult books.
Popular non-fiction categories such as cooking, crafts, sports, and biographies return, and new categories such as new age/inspirational, short stories, true adventure and local history have been added.
The sale will feature approximately 25,000 items, fully sorted into over 90 categories. Hardcover and trade paperback books are priced $2 and up. Mass market paperbacks remain $1. Most childrenâs books are $1 and 50 cents, or as marked. Prices will be reduced Monday through Wednesday. All proceeds will benefit the library.
In addition, brand-new high quality toys from a local toy store will be sold at 70 percent off retail, offering a great opportunity to stock up on birthday and holiday gifts.
Hours of the book sale are 9 as follows: Saturday, June 2, 9 am to 6 pm (early bird admission $10 until 10 am, then free for remainder of sale); and Sunday through Wednesday, 10 am to 6 pm.
