The Second Company Governor’s Horse Guard recently completed elections and promotions, and is proud to announce a ‘full house’ in its officer corps.

Former 2nd Lieutenant Pamela Berlekovic was promoted to the rank of Captain and will serve as Executive Officer. Sgt. Kim Charney was promoted to 1st Lieutenant and will serve as Company Adjutant.

Staff Sergeant Karen Farar was promoted to the rank of 1st Lieutenant and will serve as Platoon Leader. Horse Officer Jennifer Taylor was elected to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant and will serve as Training Officer. Supply Sergeant Sharon Haddad was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant and will serve as Quarter Master. And PFC Greg Weaver was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant and will serve as Operations Officer and Coronet.

Also, Major Gordon Johnson, the officer corps and the troopers would also like to publicly welcome back Staff Sergeant Paul Mazzara. He has returned safely from his service in Afghanistan with the Connecticut National Guard, 102nd Infantry, Charlie Company and is resuming his position at the Second Company as Staff Sergeant.

Applicants must be 18 years of age and be physically capable of performing all required duties. They also must have a physical examination and must submit to and pass a police records check.

Recruit training take place every Saturday from 9 am to 2 pm for a period of 24 weeks and training consists of mounted and dismounted drills, as well as classes in various military subjects such as military courtesy and flag etiquette.

Parades and other ordered functions, approximately 20 to 25, are scheduled throughout the year.
