Mad Dash/ Rooster Run

Mad Dash: Newtown’s first Mad Dash Challenge, a fitness competition, will be held at Fairfield Hills on Saturday June 9. The event includes a mud crawl, log run, hay obstacle course, balance beam, monkey bars, tire obstacle course, barrier climb, cargo net, and fitness challenge. It is sponsored by Newtown Youth Academy and Newtown Parks & Recreation. Categories are offered for advanced, beginner, and family, at 8:30, 9 and 9:30 am, respectively. Cost is $25 for adults and $15 for children (early birds) and $35 and $20 for late entries. Cost for a team of ten is $150. Rooster Run: The Newtown Parks and Recreation Department will hold its 38th Annual Rocking Rooster Run 5K on Saturday, June 16. The 3.1-mile course starts and finishes at the Newtown Municipal Center. The race will begin at 8 am. This is a family friendly event for runners of all ages and levels of ability.  Pre-registration cost is $20 for adults and $15 for students and the cost day of the race is $25 for adults and $20 for students.
