7 Year Old Division

Hollandia Nursery vs Art and Frame of Danbury: Hollandia Nursery was led by strong offensive performances from Zander Kasbarian who went 3-for-3 and Carter Ballard and Thomas Speiser who each collected two hits. Hollandia was also solid in the field where Joseph DiMaria made several key plays in right field and Torin Kearney provided solid defense up the middle, assisting on three putouts. Khal Bashawaty and Peter Reelick provided solid defense at first base recording three putouts each. Walter Brady was solid behind the plate with his soft hands preventing several wild pitches. The Art and Frame Killer Bees continued their impressive hitting as they recorded ten doubles. Matt Pietrorazio, Hayden Miller, Ryan Heran and Sean O’Sullivan each went 3 for 3 with two doubles apiece. Wiley Harris joined the hitting attack, with two hits and a double of his own. Zachary Katsuleres added two well-hit singles and scored two runs. The Killer Bees showed they are more than just an offensive juggernaut as they recorded many outs on defense. Wiley Harris made an outstanding diving stop at shortstop to record an out at second on a ball hit up the middle. Adam Zibluk, Aiden Gardner and Liam O’Sullivan continued to show their sparkling glove work. Sean O’Sullivan ended the game with a leaping grab on a well-hit liner then flipped the ball to first base to complete the game ending double play.

Claris Construction vs Apex Glass: The Claris Construction Flaming Oranges and Apex Glass slugged some great hits and played a super game. The Orange hitting attack was led by the bats of Colin Marshall, Callum Reilly, Jack Petersen and Mason Woodward. Juan Mendez, Noah Clark and Jake Mailloux made some great catches and played great in the field. Apex Glass played back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday, with hitting and defensive stars throughout the lineup. Michael Spanedda and Teddy Petit went for extra bases with doubles in Saturday’s game and both recorded multiple hit games. Edwin Tout and Ryan McMahon continued to get-on-base with multiple hit games and both showed speed on the base paths with multiple runs. Andrew McMahon and Owen Browne also recorded multiple hit games and played solid defense up-the-middle at shortstop and second base, respectively. The top defensive plays were recorded back-to-back by Matt Sortino at third base on hard-hit groundballs with strong throws to Gregory Gargano at first base to record the outs. Both Matt and Gregory were also on-base with multiple hits in both games. Matthew McMahon and Nick Sortino both played strong defense at the catcher’s position, and both continued to get on base with multiple hit games. Zachary Riley played solid infield defense and contributed with several hits in Friday’s game.

Blue Sharks vs Apex Glass: The Blue Sharks played a brisk game. Jackson Newsom provided a spark going 4-for-4 judiciously spreading the ball to all fields. James Celentano was pivotal in turning the team’s first double play of the year. James Ciaramello, Jake Hossler and Tyler Harrison displayed sticky gloves in the infield, while Lewis Tomaj kept runners at bay with his strong throws from the outfield. Will “The Thrill” Hornby would not be denied four singles using his speed to beat out throws to first. Athan Tavar had a strong performance at the plate and Timmy “Big Daddy” Vigneau continues to quietly swing his big stick. Trevor Jacozzi proved nothing beats Mom’s cookin’ as it provided enough energy for an opposite field blast, that had it not hit the fence, would still be going.

Frate Custom Cabinetry vs Landscaping Unlimited: Frate Custom Cabinetry offense was led by the outstanding performances of twins Matt and Steven Berard. Shayne Frate also had a great game at the plate. The Frate team defense was anchored by the solid glove work of Ben Watson and Matt Demott.

Stratton Faxon Law vs Spire: The Stratton Faxon Law Rockets came to hit this weekend. The offense was led by Andon Bambino, Cameron Audet and Steven Cotton who all slammed doubles past the outfielders. Colin Adis and Daniel Lounsbury also impressed at the plate, each connecting for a few singles. The entire team, including Zack Majeski, Connor Faxon, Cooper Agresta, Jimmy Dauber and Miller Tetreault contributed by batting through the entire lineup in 3 out of 5 innings. In the field, the defense was also impressive. Andon Bambino caught a pop fly and fired to first base to catch a straying runner for a double play. But, the best heads-up play was made by third baseman Zack Majeski who fielded a groundball with runners at second and third and had the presence of mind to tag an oncoming runner for the final out of the game.

10 Year Old Division

Ferro Financial Green Machine 12, Ferris Acres Creamery Red Gorillas 5: The Ferro Financial Green Machine bats came alive in an impressive win over the tough Red Gorillas. The Machine broke open the game with six runs each in both the second and third innings. Tyler Trede, Sean McCleary and Michael Narducci had solid games on offense. Jack Swanson’s two-run RBI single followed by Tim Shaw’s single and Kyle Roche’s bases-clearing triple highlighted the third. Luke Loudon and Bobby Ward were solid in the field and Jack Oltran shut down a tough Gorilla’s offense in the third and fourth with Roche, Trede and Shaw also strong on the mound. The Gorilla attack was led by Jamey Hobar and Ryan Williams who slugged two hits each. Jeremy Fisher chipped in with a single, four stolen bases and scored two runs. Two shutout innings by Ben Terry and great hustle from Jake Raiani, Cody Camputaro and AJ Salaris anchored the Gorilla defense.

Mobil 1 Lube Express Blue Devils 15, Monro Muffler and Brake 3: The Blue Devils broke out the bats and had solid hitting performances from Brooks Petershack, Andrew Lally, Josh Dunn and Tess Davenport. On defense Jack Heinlein and Johnny Finnegan each pitched two solid innings in a rain-shortened game, and David Kohler combined with Johnny Finnegan to stop a steal from first to second. For Monro Muffler and Brake, Jimmy Davies, Robbie Morrill, Thomas Hasselberger and Luke Melillo all had solid hitting, while good defensive stands were made by Jack Hannan and Trevor Bottom.

Ingersoll Auto of Danbury 8 Mobil 1 Lube Express Blue Devils 3: In a tough-fought game, the Black Knights played excellent baseball to beat the Blue Devils 8 to 3. Excellent pitching by Dylan Larkin, James Heran and Robert Murray led the way for Black Knights, as well as the defensive stops of Matt Sadowski and James Clifford. Solid hitting performances were displayed by Jeremy Larkin, Matt Brantl, Kevin Riccardi and Jack McDonnell. Christoph Berg provided a huge base hit in the sixth that earned him the game ball. For the Blue Devils, Josh Dunn, Johnny Finnegan and David Kohler all pitched well and Andrew Lally played solid defense. Johnny Finnegan and Jack Heinlein led the hitting for the Blue Devils

Sugar Hill Auto 5, Allstate Insurance 3: Sugar Hill Auto’s pitching was led by Eric Moore, Jack Miller, Sammy Kapur and Simon Preston. The offense was led by Doug Carriero and Jake Holman. Sugar Hill Auto’s defense was solid with Thomas Fitzgerald, Jack Forgione, Justin Kahn and TJ Linse.

Sugar Hill Auto 7, Allstate Insurance 7: Sugar Hill Auto’s pitching was again led by Eric Moore and Jack Miller. The offensive attack was led by Simon Preston, Sammy Kapur and Travis Huzina.

 Monro Muffler and Brake 8, Sugar Hill Auto 4: Sugar Hill Auto’s pitchers Jack Miller, Simon Preston and Sammy Kapur did a solid job. Sugar Hill Auto’s offense was led by Justin Kahn, Travis Huzina and Jack Forgione. Monro Muffler and Brake had strong pitching from Jimmy Davies and Tommy Phaneuf. Excellent defensive play by catchers Nick Stowell and Robbie Morrill and a two-run homer off the bat of Trevor Bottom to power the team to victory

11 Year Old Division

Attorney Buzzi 15, Grimes Times 6: Eugene Citrano banged out four singles for a perfect day at the plate and Henry Primavera hit a booming double to lead the Lawyers past the Titans. Evan Kohlsaat and George Pagett hit well for Grimes Times.

MSR Music 7, Newtown Pizza Palace 6: Robbie Laporta pitched two strong innings and Will Huegi played awesome in the field to lead the music men to an exciting win over the Orange Crush. Harry Eppers hit and played great defense, while Alex Janiak pitched well in defeat.

Sal e Pepe 10, Mandy Beckett Realtor 2: Greg Brissette pitched and hit well, while Jacob Steinebrey played flawless in the field for the victors. Ben Harrison and Dylan Champagne starred in defeat.

Begany Design 8, Stratton Faxon Red Sox 7: Begany Design pulled out a victory in their last at bats, thanks to clutch hitting by RH Clark. Colby Olson picked up the win and Liam Begany starred in the field. Jacob Duffy hit a booming double to clear the bases and temporarily put the Sox’s up on top. Chris Faxon’s two hits and ”King Kong” Kost’s awesome pitching contributed to the efforts.

14/15 Division

Newtown 1 Lube Express 3, Newtown Red Sox 3: Newtown 1 Lube Express and The Newtown Red Sox played to a tie in a rain-shortened game on Saturday. The game was scoreless entering the fourth inning when The Red Sox offense plated three runs. Colin Dutt led off the inning with a single,then scored on Charlie Huegi’s double. Patrick Pierce then delivered a sharp single of his own to drive in the second run. Malcolm Dance completed the scoring for the Red Sox with a double to left field to drive in Pierce. Newtown 1 Lube Express answered right back with three runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Will Swain and Jim Parker both worked walks to set the table for Julian Dunn, who drove in the first run with a single. The Red Sox retired the next two batters, which brought Connor Roche to the plate with two outs. Roche promptly delivered a clutch, two-out single to plate both base runners and tie the game at three which ended up being the final score. Jim Parker pitched well, going three innings without allowing a run and only surrendering one hit. Garrison Buzzanca continued his hot hitting for The Express, with another two hits on the day.

Newtown 1 Lube Express 6, Newtown Dental Associates 2: Newtown 1 Lube Express won on the strength of great pitching, solid defense, and some timely offense. The game started off as a pitcher’s duel as Jim Parker pitched the first four innings for The Express, allowing only one run on four hits, while recording six strikeouts. The pitching for Dental Associates was equally impressive as Kevin Liniger, Anthony Venezia, and Mike Daubert held The Express to only one run over the first four innings as well. The Express offense came alive in the fifth, erupting for five runs to take a 6-1 lead. Julian Dunn started off the inning with a single, then moved to second on a ground out. Connor Roche continued his hot hitting, delivering an RBI single to plate Dunn. Roche was eventually thrown out at home as he attempted to score from third on a passed ball. Down to their last out of the inning, The Express’ next two batters reached on walks, setting the stage for Colten Moroney’s clutch, two out, two RBI single. Adam Israel completed the scoring with an RBI single to right, driving in Jake Simonson. Harry Depuy came on in the fifth to try and secure the victory. Anthony Venezia and Patrick Rowley both reached base on solid hits but Depuy was able to work out of trouble without giving up a run. Depuy then retired the side in order in the sixth but Dental Associates did not go down without a fight. Mike Daubert led off the seventh with a single, one of his two hits on the day, then promptly stole second and third and scored on an error. With no outs and a man on second, Alex Romeo drove the ball to deep centerfield, but Will Swain was able to make a nice running catch to record the first out. Nick Lotrecchiano came up next and ripped a sinking liner to left that appeared headed for single, but David Vallerie made a nice sliding catch to snare the ball, then alertly got up and fired to second base to complete the game-ending double play. After a slow start to the season, The Express is 2-0-1 during the last three games.
