Expresses Gratitude To Participants In Bread Baking Class
To the Editor:
Our Sourdough 101 bread baking class held on May 4 at St Rose of Lima was attended by nearly 50 people and raised $750 for St Rose School (SRS).
We thank the following people, without whose help this success wouldn’t have been possible:
Michelle McRuiz, co-president of SRS Home School Association, who created the promotional flyer, arranged for use of the school’s gathering hall/kitchen and the system for registrations, set up tables/chairs, signed people in at the door and more!
Steve Ford, owner of the amazing Butcher’s Best in Newtown, who instructed us how to use the kitchen’s commercial appliances and safety protocols AND came early to the class to set up the kitchen for us to ensure all ran smoothly.
Janice Bonsignore, Marilyn Doyle, and Kathy and Haley Ventresca, who set each table with bread and condiments for tasting, filled containers with starter for students, assisted with clean-up and more!
From St Rose School: Principal Dr Bardhyl Gjoka, Director of Mission Advancement Laura Moulder, and Administrative Assistant Christine Arcentales for behind-the-scenes needs.
Our student Dave Vasilas, who surprised us by bringing porchetta, sausage and peppers for class participants to enjoy!
Thanks also to our nearly 50 students who entrusted us with teaching them the art and science of making sourdough. This attentive group was engaged and asked excellent questions! Some shared helpful and interesting information from personal experience. We’ve loved receiving communications from the students where they’ve shared pictures of bread they have baked following the class, which all looked quite impressive.
By request, we are holding a follow-up class at St Rose on Saturday, June 7, from 11 am-1 pm. Reach out to either of us for more information if you’d like to join us!
With profound gratitude,
