Free Summer Sounds Concerts Begin June 13 At Ashlar

For the 21st consecutive year, Ashlar of Newtown will sponsor free Summer Sounds concerts on the beautiful grounds of Ashlar of Newtown, 139 Toddy Hill Road.

Residents are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy a variety of wonderful musical performances given by many of the area’s most popular bands.

All concerts begin at 7 pm. In the event of rain, or if it appears rain is imminent, concerts may be moved indoors where possible or cancelled (there is one tentative rain date, as noted later). Call 426-5847 for additional information or weather cancellation information.

The series will begin this year on Wednesday, June 13, with the return of Berkshire Big Band. The band performs music from the 1930s, 40s and 50s.

Concerts will continue as follows:

Thursday, July 12: Frank Porto Band, performing music from 30s and 40s (*Tentative rain date is August 22);

Thursday, July 19: The Governor’s Foot Guard Band, performing swing and polka music;

Wednesday, August 1: St Luke’s Steel Band; and

Wednesday, August 15: The Galvanized Jazz Band, with Dixieland style music.
